Sangria
Red wine punch, literally "bloodletting"

Enjoyed, among other places, in the Heladeria-Fruteria Tutti Frutti in Maspalomas

Approx. 7 glasses

ingredients

  • 1 untreated orange

  • 1 untreated lemon

  • 1 apple

  • 2 peaches

  • 50 ml brandy

  • 50 ml orange liqueur

  • 2 l red wine (traditionally Rioja is mostly used, in Gran Canaria a Tinto Joven (young, light wine) goes just as well. Barrique should be avoided as they are too spicy for the light summer drink)

  • at least 2 tablespoons of sugar

  • Mineral water (at will)

  • Ice cubes

preparation

Cut citrus fruits into slices, apple and peaches into pieces and place in a large bowl. Pour in the brandy, orange liqueur, red wine and sugar and leave to stand in the refrigerator for a few hours (preferably overnight). Just before serving, add mineral water and serve with ice cubes.

Gourmet tip

If you like your sangria sweeter, you can pimp it with lemon soda and / or orange juice. The tapas below are enough with the sangria!
